How long has this organization been in Hall County?

Women Who Care - Hall County was founded in March 2026 by Jordan Allen, Melissa DeLaet, Ellen Hornady, Erin Marsh, Tina Moreno, Dana Rosacker, Joeli Walrath, Mac Whitlow, and Jennifer Worthington.

Which organizations are allowed to be nominated?

The organization must be located in Hall County and be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves the Hall County area. Projects/programs may be fiscally sponsored by another organization, but they must benefit Hall County. National organizations may qualify if they have a local branch with a physical presence in Hall County and if 100% of the donated funds remain in Hall County. 

Who can present?

Only current members of Women Who Care can present and vote for a charity or cause. If you currently work at a nonprofit, you can not present about that nonprofit.

How is the charity chosen?

A member who has signed the commitment form can put the name of a local organization into the box for a random drawing. The meeting organizers will collect nominations. At random, three names will be selected to present. Those members will give a 5-minute presentation on why their chosen organization should receive our collective donation, followed by a 5-minute Q&A. Organizations are limited to receiving a grant once every two years.

What is a 501(c)(3)?

501(c)(3) refers to nonprofit organizations organized and operated exclusively for charitable, educational, religious, scientific, or similar purposes that are recognized by the IRS. For the purposes of Women Who Care, all groups under consideration must be local.

How do I contribute or vote if I cannot attend the meeting?

Women Who Care can accept Venmo and Online Donations (please include processing fees to make the full donation). You can also send a signed check to the meeting with a friend or mail it after the meeting. Members who were unable to attend will receive an email with the name of the selected charity. Only members who are present at the meeting can vote. We are unable to take cash.

How long do the meetings last?

We meet four times per year, and meetings generally last no longer than an hour. We encourage members to stay and network after the meeting.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

Yes. Women Who Care - Hall County is supported as a component fund of the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation (GGICF). All contributions are made to the fund at GGICF, and tax receipts will be provided directly by the Foundation.

Can I come if I'm not a member? Can I bring a friend?

You can become a member at your first event, and guests are always welcome.
