Hometown Highlights Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the March edition of Hometown Highlights! Held at Allen Capital Group, this event brought together local leaders who are shaping what’s happening now—and what’s next—for Grand Island. Attendees heard from visionary developers and nonprofit leaders about the bold steps being taken to support our community’s growth.

  • Scott Rief, Innate Concepts
    • Scott shared how Innate Concepts is leading housing development across Nebraska with projects like Legacy Bend in Norfolk, Prairie Heights in Lexington, and the most recent Legacy 34 in Grand Island. He previewed exciting expansion plans to the Prairie District in Southwest GI, including mixed-use neighborhoods and new single-family homes to meet regional needs.

  • Amy Bennett, YWCA Grand Island
    • Amy introduced the Building Brighter Futures capital campaign—a transformative expansion to triple their childcare capacity and provide year-round resources for women and families through the purchase and remodel of the old Wyandotte Building. The project tackles local workforce and economic challenges by increasing access to affordable, high-quality childcare.

  • Liz Mayfield, Hope Harbor
    • Liz unveiled plans for Lighthouse Apartments, a new housing development offering wraparound support and long-term stability for vulnerable families. More than housing, the project represents a systems-level change in how we approach community well-being.

  • Mitch Hohlen, Woodsonia Real Estate
    • Mitch detailed major projects, including Veterans Village. These developments will bring 1,500+ residential units, commercial hubs, a regional sports complex, and enhanced community amenities like trails and a transformed Eagle Scout Lake. He also gave updates on the Conestoga Market Place, including the addition of three new businesses, and announced the opening date of the B&B Entertainment Center.

We’re proud to spotlight the individuals and organizations driving positive momentum across Hall County. Together, their vision and commitment continue to shape a stronger, more vibrant Grand Island.
