GICF Names New Trustees

The Grand Island Community Foundation (GICF) board of trustees approved the addition of five incoming trustees. New board members elected to serve their first three-year terms are Katie Goering, Denise Myers, Jason Roe, Tim White and Brad Fegley.

 “As our new board members join the team, we are excited to see how their experience, involvement, and knowledge assists in our mission to provide a continual legacy for the Foundation and the Grand Island area community,” said Melissa DeLaet, CEO of the Grand Island Community Foundation.

 Katie Goering, incoming trustee, said, “The Grand Island Community Foundation has an unmeasurable impact on our community, and I am thrilled to be a part of such an amazing organization.”

 The board is led by Chad Hudnall, Family Eye Care, board chair; Marcy Luth, Almquist Maltzahn Galloway & Luth, P.C., vice chair; Mike Schuster, Schuster Anderson Wealth Advisors, treasurer; Dee Price, secretary; Lisa Thayer, Attorney, human resources chair, and Mike Kneale, Five Points Bank, past board chair.  

 “The Grand Island Community Foundation truly works for the community and paves a path for donors to see a tangible impact that they have on the lives of not only Grand Island citizens, but individuals across the many communities that we serve,” said Chad Hudnall, board chair. “We are beyond thrilled that Katie, Denise, Jason, Tim, and Brad have accepted our invitation to join the GICF board of directors. Each one of these individuals has demonstrated their unwavering commitment to making Grand Island a better place to live, work and raise a family. Their plethora of unique talents and diverse life experiences will be an asset to board as we advance our commitment to the donors, individuals, and organizations served by the Grand Island Community Foundation.,” said Hudnall.     

 The Community Foundation manages nearly $21 million in assets through more than 170 named funds. Named funds represent the legacies of individuals, families, businesses, and projects that have benefited the entire community. The reach of the Foundation allows donors to customize their gift to support any interest. The Foundation offers customized giving options ranging from arts and basic needs to community enrichment, for donors to impact charitable causes about which they are passionate.

 Other board members include Lisa Ávila O’Connor, Tom Babel, Roger Bullington, Brandon Connick, Mike Gloor, Dick Rabe, and Lynne Werner.  Melissa DeLaet serves as the Chief Executive Officer. Kris Nolan Brown, Don Smith, Jodi Maruska, and Doug Fargo have retired from the board. “We offer our deepest gratitude to Kris, Don, Jodi, and Doug as they leave the board of trustees. Their contributions to the board have provided invaluable experience and expertise to this organization,” said DeLaet.

 The Grand Island Community Foundation was established in 1960, with the mission to preserve and enhance the quality of life in Central Nebraska and assist donors in realizing their charitable goals. Accredited by the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations, the Foundation currently manages $21 million in assets and has helped establish hundreds of charitable funds over the past 55 years.
