GICF announces NEI class 2 participants

The Grand Island Community Foundation has selected the following five organizations to participate in the second class of the Nonprofit Excellence Institute: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grand Island, Hope Harbor, Leadership Tomorrow, Stuhr Museum, and the Stuhr Museum Foundation.

Beginning in August, the executive directors of these organizations will meet monthly with Mary Lee Fitzsimmons of Mission Matters to work on capacity building initiatives tailored to the needs of the participating organizations. Quarterly, board members join the executive directors for classes to learn about board development and the role of successful board members. At the conclusion of the program, organizations successfully completing NEI are then eligible for a $3,000-5,000 capacity building grant.

“We are excited to see what the next class will gain from their participation in NEI,” said Melissa DeLaet, Chief Executive Officer of the Grand Island Community Foundation. “Coming off the heels of a very successful first year for the program, we hope this class finds NEI as beneficial to their organizations as members of the first class.”

The Grand Island Community Foundation was established in 1960 with the mission to preserve and enhance the quality of life in Central Nebraska and assist donors in realizing their charitable goals. The Grand Island Community Foundation is located in the Great Western Centre Building at 1811 West 2nd Street, Suite 365, Grand Island, Nebraska.
