Excellence in Teaching Nominations Being Accepted

The Grand Island Community Foundation is seeking nominations for the Kim West Dinsdale Excellence in Teaching Award.

To be eligible for the Excellence in Teaching Award, a certified educator must be employed by a school located in Hall County, public or private, in pre-kindergarten through 12th grades. Students, former students, parents, colleagues, and friends are encouraged to nominate an educator. Educators cannot nominate themselves, nor can their family members.

Nominations are being accepted online beginning on Friday, September 7, 2018, and can be found on the GICF website www.gicf.org under the Excellence in Teaching tab. The deadline to submit nominations is Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.

“We have recently made some changes to the nomination and selection process, changes that will provide us a better sense of the nominated educators’ qualifications, teaching philosophy, and their involvement in the community and extracurricular school activities. Now, once an educator is nominated, they are then asked to complete an application to be considered for the Excellence in Teaching Award,” said Melissa DeLaet, GICF Chief Executive Officer.

The winner of the Excellence in Teaching Award will be announced in early December, with the winning educator receiving a $5,000 grant.
