AHRENS CHARITABLE TRUST (HENRY AND MARIA) – due June 1
This scholarship was established to honor the memories of Henry and Maria Ahrens, and to benefit Hall County residents who are interested in a career in the medical field. Preference will be given to those entering into a graduate field of study. This scholarship requires college transcripts, applicable graduate school entrance exams, and a letter of recommendation. (*)
BARGE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (EDGAR)
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Edgar Barge, and to benefit graduating high school seniors who are registered parishioners at Blessed Sacrament Church in Grand Island. This scholarship requires parish participation and a letter of recommendation. (*)
BRUNE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (ELEANORE J.)
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Eleanore J. Brune and to benefit non-traditional students, particularly returning adults.
CONNICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (KAREN)
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Karen Connick and to benefit a graduating high school senior from the Doniphan, Giltner or Trumbull area.
COWTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (GEORGE)
This scholarship was established in memory of George Cowton to honor his work with Rotary and his passion for education. Graduating high school seniors from Grand Island are eligible to apply.
DONIPHAN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is to be awarded to a Doniphan-Trumbull High School graduate. (*)
EAKES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (HOWARD G. AND GLADYS A.)
This scholarship was established to honor the memories of Howard and Gladys Eakes. One scholarship will be awarded annually to a child or stepchild of an Eakes Office Plus employee. This scholarship requires a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better.
GEER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (RUSSELL AND MABEL)
Russell and Mabel Geer established this scholarship to be awarded annually to a graduate of Grand Island Senior High.
GUNN SCHOLARSHIP (ALDA J.)
This scholarship was established for the benefit of Grand Island African American high school graduating students in need of financial assistance in pursuing post secondary education.
HALL COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP – due June 1
This scholarship was established for the benefit of Hall county residents interested in a medical career and entering into a graduate field of study. This scholarship requires college transcripts, applicable graduate school entrance exams, and a letter of recommendation. (*)
A.M. HARGIS SCHOLARSHIP
Established to benefit graduating high school seniors, non-traditional students, and returning adults from Adams, Blaine, Boone, Buffalo, Clay, Custer, Dawson, Franklin, Furnas, Garfield, Gosper, Greeley, Hall, Hamilton, Harlan, Howard, Kearney, Loup, Merrick, Nance, Nuckolls, Phelps, Platte, Polk, Sherman, Valley, Webster, and Wheeler counties in Nebraska. Consideration will be given to students seeking a certificate, diploma or associate degree through a technical institution in a Business, Health, or Travel and Tourism course of study.
KISNER SCHOLARSHIP (BERNARD AND JOANN)
This scholarship was established to benefit graduating high school seniors in Hall County.
MAYS SCHOLARSHIP (VELMA)
This scholarship was established in memory of Velma Mays for the benefit of graduating Doniphan students pursuing an education field of study.
MERRICK SCHOLARSHIP (JIM AND NORMA)
This scholarship was established to benefit both graduating high school seniors and continuing education students attending Central Community College on the Grand Island Campus. Consideration will be given to students in the following programs: Automotive Technology, Data Processing, Diesel Technology, Drafting Technology, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Office Technology, and Welding Technology.
PLEASANTVIEW PUBLIC SCHOOLS FUND
The Fund will be used for the benefit of graduating high school seniors who attended school at Pleasantview Public Schools and did not option enroll to another school district, and who resides or has resided within the geographic area and territory of Pleasantview Public Schools or the former Pleasantview Public Schools.
PRICE SCHOLARSHIP (JIM AND DEE)
This scholarship was established to benefit children of Kriz-Davis Co. employees.
REBMAN TRUST SCHOLARSHIP (CARL C. AND ABBIE)
This scholarship was established to benefit Hall County students in nursing or auto mechanics programs.
ROBERTSHAW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (CRAIG)
The family of Craig Robertshaw established this scholarship in memory of Craig. A high school senior from the Trumbull area is eligible to receive this annual scholarship.
SMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (RICK)
This scholarship has been established to honor the memory of Sgt. Richard Thomas “Rick” Smith. Rick grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Northwest High School in 1999. He served in the U.S. Marines for four years and at the time of his death was serving his third year in the U.S. Army. Graduating high school seniors from Grand Island Northwest High School will be eligible to apply with preference to be given to those pursuing an automotive or mechanics field of study.
TEAMMATES MENTORING PROGRAM
The scholarship was established to benefit students who have been a part of the Grand Island/Hall County TeamMates mentoring program. Eligible students must meet specific criteria. Please contact Nancy Jones, program coordinator at 385-5950 for more information.
WOODYARD FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP (WYMAN AND CLEO)
This scholarship was established to benefit students with ability and desire but lacking the financial assistance to attend a four-year college or university in Nebraska. All Hall County high school graduates with a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 3.0 and a class rank in the top 25% are eligible to apply. Preference will be given first to students pursuing a degree in education and then to students in a medical related field of study. (Please note: All applicants must complete and submit the “College Funding Estimator” page at www.educationquest.org.)
YOUTH LEADERSHIP TOMORROW SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was established to benefit a graduate of Hall County Youth Leadership Tomorrow and is intended for graduates who have stayed involved in their community or in the Youth Leadership Tomorrow program after the initial program year. ZANA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (JAMES AND JOY)
This scholarship was established in memory of James P. Zana for the benefit of a Grand Island graduating high school senior pursuing a fine arts course of study.
