2007-2008 Scholarship Recipients
AHRENS CHARITABLE TRUST (HENRY AND MARIA)

This scholarship was established to honor the memories of Henry and Maria Ahrens, and to benefit Hall County residents who are interested in a career in the medical field.  Preference will be given to those entering into a graduate field of study.  This scholarship requires college transcripts, applicable graduate school entrance exams, and a letter of recommendation.

$3,000.00 Scholarship – Joseph Vavricek IV, a second year medical student at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

$2,000.00 Scholarship – Megan Campbell, a first year human medical genetics student at the University of Colorado, Denver Health Sciences Center.

$2,000.00 Scholarship – Lindsay Monk, a first year physician assistant student at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

$2,000.00 Scholarship – Amy Schwaderer, a first year physician assistant student at the Union College.

$1,000.00 Scholarship – Nikki Bond, a second year radiology student at Central Community College in Grand Island.
BARGE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND (EDGAR)

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Edgar Barge, and to benefit graduating high school seniors who are registered parishioners at Blessed Sacrament Church in Grand Island.  This scholarship requires parish participation and a letter of recommendation. (*)
$1,000.00 Scholarship – Katelyn Rempe, a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School.  Ms. Rempe plans to study Elementary Education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
$500.00 Scholarship – Kristin Webb, a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School.  Ms. Webb plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
BRUNE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND (ELEANORE J.)

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Eleanore J. Brune and to benefit non-traditional students, particularly returning adults.
$750.00 Scholarship – Staci Huston, a non-traditional student enrolled in the Human and Social Services Administration program at Bellevue University.
CONNICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (KAREN)

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Karen Connick and to benefit a graduating high school senior from the Doniphan, Giltner or Trumbull area.
$500.00 Scholarship – Lauren Dinan, a graduate of Doniphan Trumbull High School. Ms. Dinan plans to study Wildlife Biology at Southeast Missouri State University.

$500.00 Scholarship – Christy Kathman, a graduate of Doniphan Trumbull High School. Ms. Kathman plans to study Medical Technology at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
COWTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (GEORGE)

This scholarship was established in memory of George Cowton to honor his work with Rotary and his passion for education.  Graduating high school seniors from Grand Island Central Catholic and Grand Island Senior High are eligible to apply.
DONIPHAN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is to be awarded to a Doniphan-Trumbull High School graduate.  (*)
$500.00 Scholarship – Christopher Michener, a graduate of Doniphan Trumbull High School.  Mr. Michener plans to study Actuarial Science at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
$500.00 Scholarship – Jeremy Stromer, a graduate of Doniphan Trumbull High School.  Mr. Stromer plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
EAKES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (HOWARD G. AND GLADYS A.)

This scholarship was established to honor the memories of Howard and Gladys Eakes.  One scholarship will be awarded annually to a child or stepchild of an Eakes Office Plus employee.  This scholarship requires a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better.
$500.00 Scholarship – Ryan Miller, a graduate of Grand Island Central Catholic High School.  Mr. Miller plans to study Journalism at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
GEER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND (RUSSELL AND MABEL)

Russell and Mabel Geer established this scholarship to be awarded annually to a graduate of Grand Island Senior High.

$750.00 Scholarship – Kaitlin Campbell, a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School.  Ms. Campbell plans to study Psychology at Nebraska WesleyanUniversity.
GUNN SCHOLARSHIP FUND (ALDA J.)

This scholarship was established for the benefit of Grand Island African American high school graduating students in need of financial assistance in pursuing post secondary education.
$1,500.00 Scholarship – Ruot Mar, a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School.  Mr. Mar plans to study Business at Central Community College in Grand Island.
HALL COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established for the benefit of Hall county residents interested in a medical career and entering into a graduate field of study. This scholarship requires college transcripts, applicable graduate school entrance exams, and a letter of recommendation.

$1,000.00 Scholarship – Mirla Coronado, a third year nursing student at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
A.M. HARGIS SCHOLARSHIP

Established to benefit graduating high school seniors, non-traditional students, and returning adults from Adams, Blaine, Boone, Buffalo, Clay, Custer, Dawson, Franklin, Furnas, Garfield, Gosper, Greeley, Hall, Hamilton, Harlan, Howard, Kearney, Loup, Merrick, Nance, Nuckolls, Phelps, Platte, Polk, Sherman, Valley, Webster, and Wheeler counties in Nebraska.  Consideration will be given to students seeking a certificate, diploma or associate degree through a technical institution in a Business, Health, or Travel and Tourism course of study.
$750.00 Scholarship – Jennifer Brunk, a Nursing student at Central Community College in Grand Island.

$750.00 Scholarship – Felicia Lange, a graduate of Grand Island Northwest High School.  Ms. Lange plans to pursue a Health Field course of study at CentralCommunity College in Grand Island.
$750.00 Scholarship – Samantha Shelton, a graduate of Grand Island Northwest High School.  Ms. Shelton plans to study Dental Hygiene at CentralCommunity College in Grand Island.

KISNER SCHOLARSHIP (BERNARD AND JOANN)

This scholarship was established to benefit graduating high school seniors in Hall County.
$500.00 Scholarship – Kasey Grim, a graduate of Grand Island Northwest High School.  Ms. Grim plans to study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
MAYS SCHOLARSHIP FUND (VELMA)

This scholarship was established in memory of Velma Mays for the benefit of graduating Doniphan students pursuing an education field of study.
$250.00 Scholarship – Nicholas Dutton, a graduate of Doniphan Trumbull High School.  Mr. Dutton plans to study Secondary Education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
MERRICK SCHOLARSHIP FUND (JIM AND NORMA)

This scholarship was established to benefit both graduating high school seniors and continuing education students attending Central Community College on the Grand Island Campus.  Consideration will be given to students in the following programs:  Automotive Technology, Data Processing, Diesel Technology, Drafting Technology, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Office Technology, and Welding Technology. 
$1,000.00 Scholarship – Troy Becker, an Electronics Technology student at Central Community College in Grand Island.
$1,000.00 Scholarship – Katelyn Dennis, and Information Technology student at Central Community College in Grand Island.
PLEASANTVIEW PUBLIC SCHOOLS FUN

The Fund will be used for the benefit of graduating high school seniors who attended school at Pleasantview Public Schools and did not option enroll to another school district, and who resides or has resided within the geographic area and territory of Pleasantview Public Schools or the former Pleasantview Public Schools. 
$1,000.00 Scholarship – Tiffany Leonard, a graduate of Wood River Rural High School.  Ms. Leonard plans to attend Hastings College.
PRICE SCHOLARSHIP FUND (JIM AND DEE)

This scholarship was established to benefit children of Kriz-Davis Co. employees.
$1,200.00 Scholarship – Christine Jacobs, a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Salina, KS.  Ms. Jacobs plans to study Nursing at Fort Hays StateUniversity.
$1,200.00 Scholarship – Colton Harris, a graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita, KS.  Mr. Harris plans to study Engineering at WichitaState University.
$1,200.00 Scholarship – Jeffrey Meyer, a graduate of Central High School in St. Joseph, MO.  Mr. Meyer plans to study Music Technology at Missouri Western State University.
$1,200.00 Scholarship – LaCritia Robles, a graduate of Gering High School in Gering, NE.  Ms. Robles plans to study Nursing at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
$1,200.00 Scholarship – Connor Stichler, a graduate of Bennington High School in Bennington, NE.  Mr. Stichler plans to study Architecture at Arizona StateUniversity.
REBMAN TRUST SCHOLARSHIP FUND (CARL C. AND ABBIE)

Annual scholarships for the benefit of students in a nursing or auto mechanics program. The students are to be residents of Hall County, Nebraska.

$500 Scholarship – Kaitlin Goodner, a 2006 graduate of Grand Island Senior High School. Ms. Goodner plans to study Nursing at Southeast Community College.
$500 Scholarship – Molly Markham, a continuing education student from Grand Island. Ms. Markham is currently enrolled in the Nursing program at Central Community College, Grand Island, Nebraska.
$500 Scholarship – Katelyn Miner, a continuing education student from Grand Island. Ms. Miner is currently enrolled as a Nursing student at Union College.
$500 Scholarship – RanDee Sochor, a 2006 graduate of Doniphan Trumbull High School. Ms. Sochor plans to study Radiology at Central Community College.
RASMUSSEN LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP (DENSEL)

This scholarship was established to honor Densel Rasmussen for leadership and community service.  Grand Island high school seniors are eligible to apply. This scholarship required significant community service and two letters of recommendation.

$500.00 Scholarship – Brittney Statler, a graduate of Grand Island Central Catholic High School.  Ms. Statler plans to study Biology at Creighton University.

$500.00 Scholarship – Alex Witmer, a graduate of Grand Island Central Catholic High School.  Mr. Witmer plans to study Graphic Design at Briar CliffUniversity.
REBMAN TRUST SCHOLARSHIP (CARL C. AND ABBIE)

This scholarship was established to benefit Hall County students in nursing or auto mechanics programs.

ROBERTSHAW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND (CRAIG)

The family of Craig Robertshaw established this scholarship in memory of Craig.  A high school senior from the Trumbull area is eligible to receive this annual scholarship.
$300.00 Scholarship – Mallory Lorence, a graduate of Doniphan Trumbull High School.  Ms. Lorence plans to attend Hastings College.
TEAMMATES MENTORING PROGRAM

The scholarship was established to benefit students who have been a part of the Grand Island/Hall County TeamMates mentoring program.  Eligible students must meet specific criteria.  Please contact Nancy Jones, program coordinator at 385-5950 for more information.
$1,000.00 Scholarship – Joshua England, a graduate of Doniphan Trumbull High School.  Mr. England plans to study Law Enforcement at Central Community College in Grand Island.

$1,000.00 Scholarship – Keeley Lloyd, a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School.  Ms. Lloyd plans to study Computer Programming at CentralCommunity College in Grand Island.

$1,000.00 Scholarship – Joshua Manka, a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School.  Mr. Manka plans to study Architectural Engineering at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

$1,000.00 Scholarship – Kersha Mitchell, a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School.  Ms. Mitchell plans to study Criminal Justice at Hamilton College.

$1,000.00 Scholarship – Humberto Monasterio, a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School.  Mr. Monasterio plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
