Grand Island Arboretum Fund

The Grand Island Arboretum serves as a lasting testament to Gregg Bostelman, who served as city parks superintendent for 24 years.

The Grand Island Arboretum, an affiliate site of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, serves as a lasting testament to Gregg Bostelman, who served as city parks superintendent for 24 years.

“Gregg was really passionate about nature and trees,” said his widow, Joni.

The Grand Island Arboretum Fund was established to help preserve the site as a place not only to enjoy trees but also to learn about them. The Community Foundation assisted by being a trustworthy steward of donations, organizing people and meetings, and keeping things in motion, Joni said.

The fund’s first project will be to erect a sign at the arboretum, which is north of Suck’s Lake.
