GICF Announces New Program Officer

The Grand Island Community Foundation is happy to announce that Kara Faber of Grand Island, Nebraska has been chosen as the new program officer for the organization. With over 11 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, we are excited about the opportunity to have Kara join the Foundation with her skills and expertise. 

Kara Faber was born in Holdrege, Nebraska and is proud to call Funk, Nebraska her hometown. She received her Bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2004. Kara joined the Grand Island Community Foundation as Program Officer in 2016. At the Foundation Kara will be responsible for assisting with special meetings, events, and projects, especially those relating to grants.  

Kara’s past experience includes serving as the Director of Development for the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, Nebraska and as Program and Development Director with the Willa Cather Foundation in Red Cloud, Nebraska. Most recently, Kara was employed as the Corporate and Foundation Giving Manager for the Stuhr Museum Foundation in Grand Island where she was responsible for all grant writing and administration, as well as securing corporate gifts for the organization.
