Kim Rerucha comes to the Grand Island Community Foundation Board of Trustees with an extensive Grand Island pedigree: she grew up in the Third City, graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1979. From there, she took a path that led through an Associate’s Degree in nursing in Lincoln, followed with the completion of her bachelor’s degree in the same field, and winding through a variety of nursing posts in Colorado and Texas. In Denver, Kim worked in the Children’s Hospital neonatal intensive care unit and served as a clinical research assistant for a Colorado allergy and asthma clinic.In 1990, all trails led back home, where Kim enthusiastically pitched in to work with husband Russ in the family business. A year later, Kim assisted Midwest Allergy and Asthma Clinic in Omaha to start a clinical research trials program, all the while continuing to work in nursing at Central Nebraska Community Services in the maternal child health care program and serving as head nurse at Midwest Dermatology and Grand Island Dermatology. She continues to work with Russ at AKRS, formally known as Green Line Equipment. Kim currently serves on the Heartland United Way planning committee, is a member and past president of the AOK (Acts of Kindness) Ladies in Grand Island, and is a trustee at St. Francis Foundation. She served on the St. Francis Foundation board until 2018, and is a Leadership Tomorrow 1992 graduate. Russ and Kim have two children, Ryan and AJ.
